The carb rebuild process has many steps. Older carbs don’t work well with today’s fuel, and it causes a lot gunk buildup which causes the floats to seize. You can buy rebuild kits that provide all the parts you’d want to replace. I used a combination of carb cleaner, the ultrasonic bath, and polish to get the end result. I also removed all the stock airbox components, and replaced it with velocity stacks. Probably the most difficult part of the whole process is knowing what jet settings, needle positions, and idle screw settings should be used. There are two on the CB550F, and I’m running a #38 on the idle and #110 on the main jet. Everything has already been bench synced and tested.
